PIG PATROL

PIGGING OPERATION

The project required that cleaning pigs and an intelligent pig be used to conduct these inspections for the required internal inspection and cleaning.

To ensure the pigs are tracked during the launching traversing and receiving, each pig was tagged with a radioisotope specifically calculated to allow detection of each pig as it moves through the pipe internally. Three pigs were used for this project.

The detection of each pig, Radiation Professionals supplied a pig tracker instrument “Pig Patrol” that is attached to the external surface of the pipe line at designated points. This will give the operator real time or captured time for confirmation and accurately indicating of a passing pig. These instruments must be designed for sub sea environment, capable of working at depths of 1500mtrs and remain on for long periods for 24-hour monitoring, 10 days+ during the project.
